Sutton Mill Heritage Centre and National Milling & Millwrighting Academy Update 23rd January 2018

Since the launch of our campaign to create the National Milling & Millwrighting Centre at Sutton Mill on the 7th December 2017, the Directors of the National Millwrighting Centre CIC have been working hard to finalise a deal to acquire Sutton Mill and begin work. Our intention was to complete the acquisition of the mill by the end of January 2018.

The Crowd Funding Campaign was launched on the 6th December with the aim of raising £250,000.00. Frustratingly, progress towards achieving this goal has been disappointing and there have been a number of other unexpected issues that have arisen in finalising the terms of other elements of our funding to acquire the site. As a result, as of today, we are not in a position to deliver on our plan to purchase the site by the end of January 2018 and still have significant additional fundraising to do in order to move ahead with the project.

The Directors have therefore agreed to work to resolve the outstanding issues and to solicit additional investment to make up the shortfall in the crowdfunding. All those who have donated to the crowd funding will be contacted to update them on progress over the next few days.
